Why Setbacks Happen When You Set a Goal

Do you have a dream you’re going for? Have you given it your best effort to write it down, envision it happening, and taken inspired action?

Since you set out for your dream, have you encountered any setbacks? challenges? problems? Does it feel like you take more steps backwards than forward?

Here’s something few people in the self-help world will tell you, but I know it from personal experience…

The bigger the goal/dream, the more likely you will have to CHANGE to become the person capable of receiving it. Otherwise you’d already have it.

Things that you’re already capable of doing or that you are already in harmony with come easily. The bigger stuff requires you to come into alignment with it. The process of going for your dreams is more about BECOMING than anything.

So if you’ve encountered challenges, problems or setbacks, it’s a sign that the work you’ve done to articulate and envision your goal or dream is working. Everything that’s coming up is orchestrated to transform you into the person capable of achieving the goal / receiving the dream.

As James 1:2 says, “Count it all joy.” Be grateful for your challenges and problems, and ask God to open your eyes to the insights, blessings and lessons inside them. The quicker you do, the more swiftly you will move through, around, or over them and become the person capable of receiving the desired outcome.
