{"id":5448,"date":"2019-12-13T22:07:37","date_gmt":"2019-12-13T22:07:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/marniekuhns.com\/unplugged\/?p=5448"},"modified":"2019-12-13T22:21:41","modified_gmt":"2019-12-13T22:21:41","slug":"freedom-of-letting-go","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marniekuhns.com\/unplugged\/2019\/12\/13\/freedom-of-letting-go\/","title":{"rendered":"The Freedom of Letting Go"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I\u2019m evaluating 2019 a little differently. It\u2019s been a year of self-reflection and inner work. Normally when I evaluate a year, I look at what I\u2019ve accomplished. This year, my biggest accomplishment has been letting go. Here are a few things I\u2019ve released this year:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span data-offset-key=\"9tu22-0-0\">Equating my value with my ability to make money<\/span><\/li><li>Needing to monetize everything<\/li><li>Equating whether my actions or efforts have value based on my ability to monetize them<\/li><li>Needing to always be \u201cdoing something\u201d<\/li><li>Needing to always have my phone with me \/ using it excessively<\/li><li>My false belief that \u201cmen aren\u2019t there for me when I really need them\u201d<\/li><li>Grief<\/li><li>Releasing my son to go serve in a Central American country and all the worries\/concerns that go with that<\/li><li>Tying weight release to trauma (I lost 14 pounds in about 3 weeks during my mother\u2019s death and the divorce\u2026 my subconscious had tied weight release to trauma so I released that)<\/li><li>Needing other people to like me \/ choose to be with me (even those people I deeply love)<\/li><li>Taking other people\u2019s displeasure \/ upset \/ stories \/ negative emotions personally<\/li><li>Responsibility for being the one to take care of the family financially<\/li><li><span data-offset-key=\"c5dcl-0-0\">Fear of the unknown (especially where <span data-offset-key=\"c5dcl-1-0\">my husband<\/span> is concerned. I trust him and try things I\u2019ve never done before)<\/span><\/li><li>Seeing all my success\/influence in the past and not in the present.<\/li><li>Using the phrase, \u201cI used to\u2026\u201d As in.. &#8220;I used to have this&#8221; or &#8220;I used to be able to do this&#8221; or &#8220;I used to be good at&#8230;&#8221; or &#8220;I used to look \/ feel \/ be &#8230;&#8221;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Freedom in the Stillness<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In the stillness created by letting go of all these things, I found freedom and greater inner peace. I have a better understanding of what\u2019s important in life. I\u2019ve discovered that freedom comes from letting go of the need to do &amp; have so many things. Less is more! Embracing the stillness has given me space to develop my character, talents and wisdom in ways I never could have without the liberating act of letting go. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I couldn&#8217;t have released all this without David. He&#8217;s the one who took care of me and talked things through with me and gave me the space to let go and explore my creativity this year. Between him and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marniekuhns.com\/consulting\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"SimplyHealed (opens in a new tab)\">SimplyHealed<\/a><sup>TM<\/sup>, it&#8217;s been a smooth and enjoyable process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How about you?
