Grateful for the Hard Things
This Thanksgiving week, I’m grateful for these unconventional blessings…
- the hard things I’ve been through for the last couple years. They’ve shaped me into a new person
- the men I’ve dated that didn’t work out. I’ve learned a lot about myself and what I want from these fine fellows
- the times I’ve hit the wall, not knowing how I could go a step further… because it taught me to praise God anyway
- oh and I’m thankful for God’s crazy sense of humor in the way He’s answered my prayers day to day. He’s definitely full of surprises!
As I sat down at my piano to play on this “Black Friday” I felt very grateful for my beautiful family and the friends I have in my life. This song is what came out. Not perfection, but it sums up the feelings of my heart today.

So incredibly beautiful, Marnie. I was married for 15 years, then single for 27 years before getting married again a couple years ago. I’m pretty sure that all the men I met (mostly online) and just talked to on the phone were my best training for becoming a coach. I got certified this year. Meaning as a coach, not as a crazy person… but dating is certainly a challenge. It made me feel like a crazy person, to tell you the truth. Thanks so much for sharing this lovely, touching music of your heart.
I agree, Mia! It can make you feel a bit crazy at times. But there seems to be some method in the madness. LOL Glad you found your happy ending.
Very inspiring music for the heart and soul. Thanks Marnie for posting this and sharing your life experiences. It has truly blessed me. Through all the challenges this year and specifically in the last three months I woke up this morning with a knowing in my spirit that God is in control of everything. Then I repeatedly heard in my spirit “when life gives you a lemon make lemonade”. I believe that the Lord was speaking to me about the challenges in the last 3 months and indeed with His help I feel victorious without anything substantial to show for it except the way I had handled the whole situation with grace. It is after the event and reflection that one is able to understand the blessings of God through those challenges.
Thanks so much for sharing Adjoa! It’s all coming together, my friend! 🙂
