I’ve been thinking a lot this afternoon about Nebuchadnezzar. He was a Babylonian king whose “main achievement of his reign was the rebuilding of Babylon, on a scale and with a magnificence never before envisaged.” (Encyclopedia.com)
He had prophetic dreams about his kingdom and other future kingdoms. His dreams were interpreted by Daniel. Nebuchadnezzar was a proud man but he favored Daniel and his Israelite friends. Eventually he was severely humbled for his pride and later repented and admitted that The God of the Israelites was the true and living God.
His successor would eventually facilitate and support Nehemiah’s project of rebuilding Jerusalem’s wall.
God doesn’t need perfect people to transform nations.
