You’re focusing on the wrench.

What do I mean by that?

The first one emphasizes his new wrench that twists, turns and reaches hard-to-access crevices. The second one guarantees he can have your leaky faucet fixed today in 30 minutes or less.

Which one do you choose? The one who can fix your faucet fast – right?

I’ve found that most light workers focus on their method, modality, or system rather than focusing on the client’s problem. They focus on the wrench because they’re scared to zone in on one problem and one solution.

It’s daring of the plumber to advertise that he can fix your leaky faucet today in 30 minutes or less. Is he alienating people who might have a broken toilet or clogged drain?

Of course not! If he can fix a faucet, he can probably fix those other things fast too – right?  So, why as transformational professionals are we so scared to focus in on ONE REAL problem and communicate clearly about that problem?
