I always take a month or so off in the summer to enjoy time with my kids, but this year I had a difficult time getting back into the swing of things. The month stretched into 2, 3, and 4 months. I couldn’t find my stride. I’d lost interest in my business and couldn’t seem to get it back. Nothing intrigued me or made me want to dig in and get into business. I felt as if I was looking for a missing piece to a puzzle and that until I found it, I couldn’t move forward.
Heaven’s answer was always, “Be still.” Fortunately, I have systems in place so things keep rolling along generating revenue if I hit a slump. I think many times in the past I could pull myself out of a funk because I HAD to. This time I didn’t have to, so I decided to just roll with it.
A good friend commented one afternoon,
“You must be revving up for a major breakthrough because this rest period has been inordinately long.”
I sensed she was right. Something was coming on the horizon. Something that would not only transform my business, but also propel me deeper into my life’s mission.
In the meantime, I decided to use my time wisely. I developed a system for taking better care of my body and spirit – a regular exercise program, vitamins, and a consistent spiritual practice. I planned no events, made no major commitments, and spent time playing the piano and enjoying my children and friends.
Then, I got an email from Carolyn Cooper about her SimplyHealed training in Birmingham that was coming up in early October. It was only a couple weeks away. I’d had the feeling that I should take this training for at least a year, but the timing had never felt right. With it practically in my back yard and my schedule clear, it was easy to make the time to go. I signed up and absolutely loved it. Carolyn is a phenomenal teacher who makes a complex subject seem simple.
Since becoming a certified SimplyHealed practitioner, it’s become a daily part of my life. I’m seeing some amazing results. Foremost, I’ve used it on myself, clearing away my own issues, fears, negative thoughts, and blocks. I’m also using it with my friends, family and clients. It’s taken my consulting to a whole new level and my clients are raving about the results.
After a particularly successful week with clients, I was starting to realize I’d found that missing piece to the puzzle, but it wasn’t until I stepped on the elliptical at the gym this morning with Hilary Weeks’ new album “Every Step” in my earbuds that it all clicked into place.
I almost feel like Hilary wrote these songs for me. They reminded me of who I am, why I’m here, and the strength within me to live the life God intends me to live. My vision returned with clarity and purpose, and I’m excited about the direction my life’s work is taking me. Heaven has given me one of the greatest gifts of my lifetime, and I’m completely exhilarated about it all.
Normally when I go to the gym, I have my earbuds in and work out in my own little world. I greet the person at the desk, but that’s about it. No one talks to me and I don’t strike up any conversations. Today, as I was getting off the elliptical, the woman next to me gave me a big smile. In fact, she couldn’t seem to stop smiling at me. Did I have something on my face? I looked in the mirror … no. 🙂
Everyone I passed smiled and greeted me as if I were some kind of celebrity. I went to the store afterward and people were smiling at me and greeting me in the same manner.
I was walking on air, and the entire world seemed to know it and be drawn to me. Is that what it’s like when you’re clean, clear and vibrantly resonating with your life purpose? People can’t help but be drawn to you when you’re in that place. That’s a marketing secret that no one talks about! (Except for my buddy, Phillip Davis the branding guy.)
Find your purpose, my friends, and live it with courage and clarity. The world will take notice! 🙂
“That’s Who I Am”
by Hilary Weeks
I can feel myself breathe, really breathe again.
Gonna let myself dream, truly dream again.
I won’t ever stop trying. This is my story.
And I’m still writing.
I’m uncovering strength I never felt before.
There’s a fire inside that’s never burned before.
My fears are all dying.
It’s time to spread my wings and start flyin’.
This moment is mine and I’m gonna take it.
Today is a gift and I will embrace it.
I am strong and I believe that’s who I’m meant to be.
Every step that I take is lifting me higher.
Every corner I turn, the future is brighter.
I’m brave enough to face the storm and still stand.
That’s who I am.
It’s not about the race. It’s not how fast I run.
It’s finding out what’s inside and who I can become.
Oh, yeah, it’s all about letting go and holding on.
It’s about taking chances and staying strong.
That’s who I am.
That’s who I am.
And here’s another one that sums up my journey and I suspect yours as well!
